3. Programmes Offered: The department offers a comprehensive range of academic programs, including Undergraduate (U.G.), Postgraduate (P.G.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) courses, embodying a commitment to scholarly exploration and literary excellence.

4. Interdisciplinary Courses: The department actively contributes to interdisciplinary education, notably through the M.A. in Mass Communication – a self-financing course. Additionally, the department facilitates programs such as P.G.D.T., D.C.E., C.T.E. in collaboration with IGNOU, emphasizing the convergence of literature with diverse fields.

5. Semester/Choice Based Credit System: The department operates in the Semester mode for Postgraduate programs, fostering depth and specialization. At the Undergraduate level, a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is employed, providing students with the flexibility to tailor their academic journey.

6. Outreach and Telecast Initiatives: Faculty members actively participate in the Edusat program, leveraging technology to telecast lectures to institutions in remote areas. This outreach initiative ensures that quality education reaches even the most inaccessible locations.

7. Collaborative Language Lab: In partnership with IIT Roorkee, the department hosts a Language Lab. This innovative initiative, spearheaded by Prof. Pashupati Jha, HOD of Humanities & Social Sciences at IIT Roorkee, focuses on enhancing communication skills for students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.

The Department of English, since its inception in 1948, has evolved into a dynamic hub of literary exploration and academic collaboration.
